The Cops will on Saturday travel to Bombo to face UPDF Fc in an-all- forces affair in what will be our fifth game of the season.
Having continued with our winning formula on Tuesday against Busoga United, the boys are hoping to continue with that form. While our last meeting with the army boys ended in their favour, we were victors the last time we paid them a visit at the same ground. We won 1-0 that time.
Our hosts have been in a somewhat good form and the coach Abdallah Mubiru is aware. What however, worries him most is the playing surface in Bombo.
He said: “We visit UPDF knowing it is one of the inform teams. They’ve been performing well.
“It won’t be easy especially at their own backyard. The most worrying is their playing field which is bumpy. Not conducive to play on however, we go there to compete.”Abdallah Mubiru
Heading into this encounter, Police sit second in the table standings with 10 points having followed the draw against Wakiso Giants on match day one with three straight victories. The Cops have notched 11 goals and only conceded once. With those eleven goals, we are second in the scoring chart and boast the meanest defence in the league having let in just one goal.
Our opposition lie fourth with 9 points.
Following his late Cameo on Tuesday, captain Tonny Mawejje is available for selection. Mubiru had said he’ll be assessed after the Busoga game, and now confirms the captain’s availability.
The buzzing Mawejje had this to say:
“After our last training, the whole team is prepared and ready for the game. We want to continue in the front seat of the league and we want to maintain our position.Tonny Mawejje – Captain Police FC
“I call upon all our fans to support us from wherever they are and send us prayers.
“We assure them we are going to win the game for them and the club.”
We are still without Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye, Dancun Seninde, Odong Johnson, Musa Matovu and Timothy Oyamo who are still nursing injuries.
