Abdallah Mubiru and the boys have put Friday’s misfortunes behind them as they await the Onduparaka visit.
The Cops welcome the Caterpillars to the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday eyeing a recovery from a frustrating 3-2 defeat to Vipers on Friday.
Onduparaka are enjoying a good run in the league having not lost in their last five games, but despite pointing out the opponent’s recent fine form, Mubiru is unafraid of the task on Wednesday.
“We are ready for Onduparaka,” said Mubiru.
“They have of recent picked good form, and I’m sure they’re going to come full of confidence after beating Kyetume and UPDF.
“We know they’re a threat, they’re a good team, but I think our ambitions are bigger. All in all, we are well prepared.
“The morale is high, the spirits are high. Our ambitions are still alive despite the fact that we got a setback.”
Last season, Onduparaka benefited from a boardroom decision when they were awarded three points and as many goals after we couldn’t honour the fixture due to our participation in the East African Police Chiefs Organization Cooperation Games. Our last meeting with the side however, ended with us taking the day with a 2-1 win in Lugogo.
The team will be aiming at achieving a similar result tomorrow as we try to reclaim the top of the table.
“The boys are mentally strong. We want to return to winning ways and return to the position we are supposed to be and that’s the top spot.” Said our captain Tony Mawejje.
Should Vipers lose today, a win will take us back to the top of the table.
Goalkeeper Derrick Ochan is serving a three match ban after being red carded in our game against Vipers.
Midfielder Yusuf Ssozi joins long time absentees Ben Ochen, Edward Kiryowa, Bashir Kabuye and Samuel Kayongo on the sideline.
Our youngster Derrick Kakooza is still away with the Uganda Hippos in Mauritania where he’s representing us very well.
We welcome Duncan Sseninde and Frank Tumwesigye back to the team. The duo made the bench in our last game, but didn’t feature. They’re likely to feature tomorrow.
