Police 0-1 Express

Uganda Police Football Club went into the Uganda Premier League break on a disappointing end after a slim 0-1 home defeat to Express on Tuesday at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

Eric Kambale scored a late header to inflict a second successive home defeat to the Cops having lost 2-0 to Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club last week

Police’s game plan suffered a huge blow in the opening proceedings following a heavy downpour that marred the entire first 45 minutes.

In the second half, skipper Tony Mawejje paved way for his deputy Dennis Rukundo while February’s best player Brian Muluuli’s slot was assumed by forward Henry Kisekka.

On the 82nd minute, Express broke Police’s resilience when lanky forward Eric Kambale rose highest to head home past Derrick Ochan sending the away crowd into frenzy.

Ben Ocen, Duncan Senninde, Yusuf Ssozi and Johnson Odong all had several attempts, but yielded no results.

Also, Henry Kisekka and Frank Tumwesigye tried to penetrate the opponent’s backline but did not manage a breakthrough.

Head coach abdallah Mubiru said:

“It’s not the results we wanted as a team. Our weakness as it has shown recently is in defence.

“We concede every game which means for us to win, we have to outscore our opponent. That’s been our weakness. It’s something we have to work on.

“We shall reorganise ourselves, raise our heads high and move on.”

Police goes into the break placed 5th with 25 points.
