Cops go 4th after massive win over UPDF
Uganda Police Football Club ascended to the 4th position of the 16-team log after a 3-0 commanding victory against UPDF FC in the “Battle of Forces” on Wednesday at Lugogo.
A brace from Derrick Kakooza and Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye strike ensured Police disarmed UPDF in the Uganda Premier League reverse fixture at the MTN Omondi stadium.
Frank Tumwesigye fired Police infront inside 21 minutes when he raced onto a blind pass from Dennis Ssekitoleko and sent a powerful stunning shot past goalkeeper Eric Kibowa.
17 minutes later, Derrick Kakooza ensured that the Cops break off with a 2-0 lead when he got a through ball from the edge of the box and advanced towards goal before clinically loopping the ball above custodian Kibowa.
With five minutes to recess, UPDF got their first attempt with Brian Kalumba forcing goalie Derrick Ochan into a save on his right and Hassan Mahmoud was just nearby to clear Christopher Kamagu’s rebound.
In the 52nd minute, Ben Ocen replaced Duncan Senninde before striker Kakoza stretched the lead to three, heading in Muwada Mawejje’s cross from the right.
Muwada and Kakooza later paved way for Brian Muluuli and Herman Wasswa Nteza and UPDF’s Isa Mubiru saw his well curled free kick be parried away by stretching Ochan.
Police FC (4th) now on 31 points will play against Busoga United on Saturday at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
