Police FC proved too powerful for MYDA after a 6-1 marauding victory in the Uganda Premier League on Saturday at the MTN Omondi stadium – Lugogo.
In the game largely dominated by the 2005 league Champions, rejuvenated forward Ben Ocen needed two minutes to Police infront finishing off Frank Tumwesigye’s asking cross from the right wing.
13 minutes later, Brian Mululi turned hero after heading home Muwada Mawejje’s headed ball thanks to a Reuben Kimera’s well delivered corner kick.
Few seconds after, midfield orchestrator and man of the match Tumwesigye was set-up by gangly forward Mululi inside the area to mount MYDA’s relegation misery.
In the 27th minute, second goal maker Mawejje stretched the lead to four, meeting pint-sized Tumwesigye’s through ball to pip the counterparts with a fine low drive.
Three minutes after, again Muwada Mawejje turned provider after advancing towards the byline and curled in a disturbing cross for Mululi to head home with ease. MYDA later cut on the defeat through Moses Batali as the Cops took a 5-1 lead at interval.
Team captain Mawejje Tony and Derrick Kakooza replaced Fahad Kizito and brace hero Brian Mululi moments after game restart before Muwadda Mawejje and Ruben Kimera paved way for Duncan Senninde and Eric Ssenjobe.
In the 75th minute, Tumwesigye was withdrawn off the pitch for Mubarak Nsubuga and Ben Ocen iced on the cake with a stellar strike off substitute Eric Ssenjobe’s assist.
Victory took Police to the 4th position (37 points) replacing KCCA FC after matchday 20. The Cops will visit Wakiso Giants on Wednesday next week at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakisha.
