Uganda Police Football Club has once again failed to see it’s way through to the top four positions of the Uganda Premier League after a barren draw with KCCA FC on Wednesday at MTN Omondi stadium.

Despite putting in a spirited fight all way through the game, the Cops didn’t manage to penetrate KCCA’s defense for a lifeline as the two Lugogo outfits settled for less.

Police started the game on a low and was always on the receiving end responding to the many questions arising from the opponents. Left back Reuben Kimera Nicholas earlier collided with KCCA’s Kigozi Andrew before being stretchered off for Eric Ssenjobe.

Frank Tumwesigye had his shot on the edge of the box blocked before Brian Muluuli Mayanja’s goal bound effort was cleared away by Peter Magambo for a corner-kick.

In the 43rd minute, head coach Abdallah Mubiru could not risk playing Tumwesigye until halftime whistle as the midfielder paved way for Muwada Mawejje.

The Cops then survived towards recess when Gift Ali controlled from inside the area but shot wide even when goalkeeper Tom Ikara was at his mercy.

KCCA would then pose threats after the break but Police defense was alert thanks to a formidable backline of Hassan Mahmood, Dennis Rukundo, Ssenjobe and Henry Katongole.

Striker Mayanja later paved way for Johnson Odong and Police kept pressing using the left and right flanks of Muwada Mawejje and Ben Ocen.

The Cops had the final clear cut chance of the game through Ben Ocen who was played through by Dancun Senninde only for his shot to be blocked and the rebound by Tonny Mawejje.

We’ve not scored and it’s the third game whereby we are not scoring. We’ve been missing Frank Zaga Tumwesigye and Johnson Odong who have been injured and both of them are our creative midfielders. So we are still struggling but we have time to rectify the situation.

Tactician Abdallah Mubiru

He added,

“We are still in line with our ambitions, I’ve always mentioned that we have to keep competing, we might be far away from winning the league but still we never targeted to win it, we only wanted to keep close to the big boys and we are close to them.”

Now at 38 points in the 5th position, Police will visit table leaders URA FC on Saturday 15th May at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje for matchday 24.
